History
Charlie Harrison has been working as a Jeweller for the last 15 years. Having studied crafts at Grennan Mill Craft College in Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, she continued to specialise in Jewellery by attending the Crafts Council of Ireland Jewellery Skills Course in Kilkenny.
Charlie worked with Eoin McDonnell, who was then, chairman of The Federation of Jewellery Manufacturers in Ireland; with whom she founded Moo
Jewellery. After that Charlie spent a year abroad, where she worked with a
renowned Jeweller, Trevor Scott, in Wellington, New Zealand.
Throughout the years Charlie has entered the RDS Crafts Competition on three occasions, all three of her pieces that were entered were selected to be exhibited in the RDS National Craft Competition Exhibition.
In 2005, a piece of Charlie's Jewellery came first in the Jewellery category. She also won first prize in the Company of Goldsmiths Award. Charlie also won a purchase prize from the Crafts Council of Ireland for her 'Rainbow Swizzle'.
She set up Charlie Harrison Jewellery in 2004, her work was shown to the
trade at Showcase Ireland in January 2005, an international trade fair, held yearly. Since then she has been making pieces that have been commissioned by numerous people; including a brooch that was presented to a previous President of Ireland, Mary McAleese and a piece that was presented to the previous Tánaiste Mary Harney.
Charlie also attended a course at Alchimia, a world renowned School of Jewellery in Florence, where she learned to work with different materials such as resin and acrylic.
Charlie also enjoys painting and drawing in her spare time. Some of her artwork is available to buy. Some of Charlie's paintings are of Friesian cows. These pictures can be personalised with important dates on the ear tags.
Charlie moved home to Ireland, in 2014, after spending six years in the UK. She is now ready to move forward with her Jewellery Business, undertaking commissions as well as one off pieces. She is hoping to be able to develop her business and encourage people to support true Crafts People.
